Senior Political Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost its national relevance and is no longer fit for purpose.

Speaking on the Mic On podcast on Saturday, Olarewaju said the PDP has become a shadow of its former self and now serves only as “a vehicle to satisfy ethnic desires.”

“The PDP no longer has the drive; it’s no longer the force it once was. As far as national politics is concerned, the PDP is no longer fit for purpose,” he stated.

Olarewaju, however, predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election if former President Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar contest on different platforms.

“If Jonathan runs on the PDP platform and Atiku or another strong figure runs under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the APC will lose. Tinubu will have no base in 2027,” he asserted.

He further stressed that if Jonathan decides to contest and emerges through a competitive PDP primary, Atiku’s camp would fully support him.
