The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, September 22, a statutory public holiday to mark Founder’s Day.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry explained that the holiday, originally slated for Sunday, September 21, fell on a weekend. Consequently, President John Mahama, through an Executive Instrument, declared the following Monday as an additional holiday in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who signed the statement, called on the public to observe the day nationwide.
