[Just In]: Pro-Biafra Group Rejects Military Claim of Improved Security in South-East

A pro-Biafra advocacy group has dismissed claims by the Nigerian military that security has improved in the South-East, describing the assertion as misleading and inconsistent with documented events.

The group, speaking under the banner of the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Global Defence Consortium, criticised comments attributed to Major General Michael Onoja, who reportedly linked improved security to intensified military operations and the detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement, the group argued that insecurity in the region predates separatist agitation and accused security forces of excessive force against civilians during various operations. It cited several past incidents across different parts of the country as evidence of what it described as a pattern of state violence.

The group maintained that blaming IPOB for the region’s instability ignores the roles of criminal networks, political actors, and security failures. It called for accountability and renewed dialogue, insisting that official narratives do not reflect realities on the ground.

The Nigerian Army has yet to officially respond to the allegations.
