Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior is set to join Portuguese giants FC Porto after both clubs finalised a transfer agreement involving a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.
The deal, confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Friday, will see Porto pay a €2 million loan fee, followed by a mandatory €17 million purchase clause. The contract also includes bonuses and a sell-on clause that could push the final fee to between €25m and €27m, with some reports suggesting it could rise as high as €30m if all conditions are met.
The 25-year-old Polish international, who has struggled for consistent first-team action at Arsenal, has reportedly agreed personal terms and is eager to secure regular playing time under Porto manager Francesco Farioli. He is expected to fly to Portugal within the next 24 hours to undergo medicals and complete the move.
Kiwior’s departure is closely tied to Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, as Mikel Arteta seeks to reinforce his defensive options before the transfer window closes.
If the move goes through as expected, Kiwior will leave the Emirates after 18 months, hoping to revive his career with a more prominent role in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
