Naija Blog reports that Tambuwal, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Friday, downplayed the perceived power of incumbency by the Tinubu government.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives expressed determination to work for the defeat of Tinubu, stressing that the plan to oust the current government is a matter of national consensus.
2. Rhodes-Vivour Dumps Labour Party, Joins ADC
The 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking at his defection ceremony in Alimosho, Lagos, Rhodes-Vivour said ADC represents a strong coalition to rescue Nigeria ahead of 2027.
According to him, the opposition must unite to stop those who “hold power through thuggery, violence, and intimidation.”
3. NNPP Expels Abdulmumin Jibrin, Gives Reason
House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has been expelled from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Naija Blog reports this comes less than 24 hours after Jibrin hinted he might return to the APC.
Kano NNPP Chairman, Hashim Dungurawa, accused him of anti-party activities and failure to meet financial obligations. He added that Jibrin’s political relevance was largely due to the Kwankwasiyya movement, not personal strength.
4. Peter Obi Announces Temporary Break From Public Activities
Former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi, has announced a short medical rest after doctors advised him to slow down.
In a statement, Obi disclosed he felt unwell while attending a tourism programme in Enugu and was advised to take a day or two off. He assured supporters that he will soon return to public activities.
5. 2027: Goodluck Jonathan Already Contacting Influential Nigerians, Visited Babangida – Source
Reports suggest that former President Goodluck Jonathan is considering the 2027 presidential race.
Sources at the PDP secretariat revealed that Jonathan has been consulting influential Nigerians, including ex-President Ibrahim Babangida.
His recent comments on the 2015 election loss are seen as strategic moves to rebuild sympathy and test the waters for a comeback.
6. 2027: ‘APC Plotting To Infiltrate Our Ranks’ – Labour Party
The Labour Party has accused the APC of plotting to infiltrate its structures ahead of 2027.

Naija Blog reports that NUPENG had ordered tanker drivers to stop loading petroleum products from Dangote depots from Monday, September 8.
The NLC warned Dangote against “anti-union practices” and monopolistic tendencies, threatening stronger action if workers’ rights are not respected.
8. Actor Ibrahim Chatta’s Son Is Dead
Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has lost his son.
The grieving actor shared the sad news on Instagram, writing, “Inna Lillahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
This tragedy comes years after Chatta lost his first child due to lack of funds for treatment. It also follows the recent death of Peju Ogunmola’s son earlier in the week.

The Super Eagles kept their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo.
Tolu Arokodare scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, while Victor Osimhen limped off injured in the first half.
