Naija Blog reports that the legal team of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of peddling falsehood over the true state of their client’s health.

In a strongly worded statement signed by Onyedikachi Ifedi Esq., counsel to Kanu, the lawyer dismissed recent reports attributed to the DSS claiming that the IPOB leader was receiving proper medical care, describing it as “propaganda and cheap lies.”

According to him, the DSS has been “playing hide-and-seek” with Kanu’s medical examinations, while allegedly introducing one Dr. Nasiru Mohammed, whom he described as a “quack with questionable credentials,” into Kanu’s medical team.

“If the DSS has nothing to hide, why have they refused to release the full and unedited medical results? Why also did they have to fly his blood samples to South Africa if nothing is wrong with him?” the lawyer queried.

The statement further alleged that the DSS intimidates doctors into watering down medical reports to deceive the courts, adding that the judiciary in Abuja often sides with the agency against Kanu.

The lawyer challenged the DSS to hold an open press conference where independent journalists and medical experts can interrogate them on Kanu’s health condition.

He insisted that the IPOB leader suffers from serious cardiovascular issues, including potassium depletion and aortic valve regurgitation, which have been poorly managed due to the DSS’s interference.

Concluding, Ifedi vowed that Kanu’s legal team will continue to expose every falsehood and hold the DSS accountable before Nigerians and the international community.
