A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to immediately dismiss all appointees installed by the recently departed Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ette Ibas.
Governor Fubara returned to the Rivers State Government House on Friday after serving a six-month suspension imposed by President Bola Tinubu, a decision that was widely condemned across political and civic circles. His return came a day after Ibas vacated the Government House.
During his six-month tenure as Sole Administrator, Ibas made several appointments, which Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), insists must not be retained by the governor.
“I expect the Governor to sack all the appointees of the illegal Sole Administrator and ensure that nobody imposes anybody on him as his Commissioner or aide, even as Nyesom Wike has promised not to act in such a devilish act of imposing anybody on him,” Eze said.
Eze further advised that, in the interest of peace, all members of the State Assembly who either resigned or worked with Governor Fubara in the past should be reabsorbed into the Assembly.
He also called on President Tinubu to reassure the governor of his protection, stressing that Fubara must not be exposed to further embarrassment through any impeachment plot by members of the State Assembly.
“Failure to do this,” Eze warned, “the Governor should invoke his full powers as the Executive Governor of the State.”
