Abuja — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Mrs. Grace Adayilo, the first female and indigenous Head of Service (HoS) of the FCT.
According to a highly placed source within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Adayilo passed away in the early hours of Monday, though details surrounding the cause of her death remain sketchy as at press time.
Mrs. Adayilo made history as the first woman and the first indigenous official to be appointed Head of Service in the FCT, a position she held with distinction. She was widely respected for her dedication to public service, administrative expertise, and contributions to the development of the FCT.
Her passing has been described as a huge loss not only to the FCTA but also to the entire nation, given her trailblazing role in governance and service delivery.
As news of her death spread, tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, public servants, and residents who remembered her as a committed leader who inspired women and young professionals in the civil service.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by her family and the FCTA in due course.
