Kwara United’s dismissed coach, Tunde Sanni, has reacted to his sack with calm acceptance, refusing to defend himself or give details of his side of the story.

“Anything they say is final. You can confirm from them,” Sanni told Naija News shortly after his dismissal was confirmed on Sunday evening.

The Ilorin-based club announced his removal hours after a 1-0 home defeat to Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The setback came just weeks after their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup by Ghana’s Asante Kotoko on a 5-3 aggregate.

Club chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, confirmed that Assistant Coach Ashifat Suleiman will take charge of the team with immediate effect.

Kwara United’s latest defeat left fans frustrated over missed chances and recurring tactical issues, concerns that had been growing since their continental exit.

The club sits 10th on the NPFL table with eight points from six matches, a position considered below expectations. Suleiman’s first test will be a rescheduled clash against Kano Pillars on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife about a permanent replacement, with veteran coach Gbenga Ogunbote and Flying Eagles boss Aliyu Zubairu reportedly on the shortlist.
