The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Enugu State Chapter, has rejected the voter registration figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing them as “false, deceptive, and aimed at undermining the Southeast’s voting strength.”
According to INEC’s data for the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (August 18–24, 2025), Enugu recorded only 484 new registrations, while Ebonyi had 261 (the lowest in the country), Imo 481, and Abia 772. Anambra was not listed.
In a statement signed by the state’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade David Ani, ADC said the numbers were inconsistent with reality.
“We categorically reject these figures as they do not reflect the true number of registered voters from our state and region,” Ani declared.
He noted that the party mobilized over 2,000 people during the exercise and closely monitored participation, insisting the turnout was far higher than INEC reported.
The ADC accused INEC of plotting to suppress the Southeast’s democratic rights.
“This is a blatant attempt to undermine Enugu and the Southeast. INEC has a history of bias, but the depth of this deception is alarming,” the party alleged.
The ADC demanded an immediate correction of the figures and reassured residents that their votes would count in 2027.
“The 2027 election will not be business as usual. It is time for change, and we will not stand idly by while INEC undermines democracy,” Ani warned.
The party also announced it had launched an independent investigation into the registration figures and vowed to make its findings public.
