Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is reportedly on his way out of the ADC-led opposition coalition, less than three weeks after its launch, following allegations that the platform is being manipulated to serve Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ambition.

Former ADC presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, made this claim on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, alleging that Obi has realised the coalition was merely “packaged for Atiku” and is now exploring other political options.

Kachikwu also accused Atiku's camp of trying to bribe ADC state chairmen with ₦20 million each to step down, warning that the ADC is not for sale and will not support Atiku’s bid. He challenged Atiku to publicly declare support for a Southern presidential candidate, insisting that power must remain in the South for at least six more years.

This unfolding scenario casts doubt on the unity of the opposition’s coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, especially with Peter Obi reportedly distancing himself from the arrangement.
