Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement and 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan not to heed calls to re-contest the presidency in 2027.

Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, Jandor described Jonathan’s potential comeback bid as a “political risk” that could end in humiliation.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains “a master in the game of politics” and cannot be displaced by Jonathan or any other challenger in 2027.

“I disagree with those calling on Jonathan to re-contest. This was the same man Tinubu defeated from the outside. They are not the same. If you accidentally found yourself at the Aso Villa, it is different from someone who gave his all to get there,” he said.

Jandor further advised Jonathan to listen to his wife, Patience Jonathan, who has reportedly urged him not to run again.

The PDP chieftain also commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, especially the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has boosted allocations to states and local governments and curbed corruption in the foreign exchange market.

“We can’t have overnight billionaires through dubious forex practices anymore. This man put a stop to that,” Jandor noted, while urging state and local governments to use the increased allocations to ease the burden on ordinary Nigerians.

He also called on the Armed Forces to give Tinubu maximum support in addressing insecurity across the country.

Meanwhile, Jandor reaffirmed his ambition to become governor of Lagos State, stressing that his mission is to build a more inclusive and prosperous Lagos.
