The Plateau Youth Council (PYC) of Chakfem Chiefdom has strongly condemned a recent attack on its community, describing it as a continuation of genocidal assaults targeted at its people.
In a statement signed by Deputy PYC Chairman, Joshua Gabriel Goholput, on behalf of Chairman Ephraim Prep, the council expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which claimed lives and led to the destruction of homes and property.
“The incident is not just an isolated crime but part of a disturbing pattern aimed at exterminating our people. No cause or grievance can justify the systematic shedding of innocent blood,” the statement read.
The youth body emphasized that each life lost represents a “shattered dream, a broken family, and a scar on the conscience of our nation,” warning that repeated attacks are eroding peace and unity in the community.
While consoling grieving families, the PYC urged residents to remain steadfast, assuring them that justice would eventually prevail.
Calling on security agencies to act decisively, the council insisted that the perpetrators must not go unpunished. “Anything short of justice will only embolden further bloodshed. Justice is not optional; it is a necessity for peace to reign,” it stressed.
The group also urged government at all levels to fulfill its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property by deploying adequate security to vulnerable areas and providing immediate relief for survivors.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of its people, the Plateau Youth Council declared it would not remain silent in the face of what it termed “genocide.”
