The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims during a joint security operation in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 30, at about 7:45 p.m., when three women identified as Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat were abducted in the Oke-Ile area of Idofin Igbana.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, policemen, in collaboration with the Local Government Security Initiative, immediately launched a search operation in the surrounding bushes.

During the operation at Ago Alu Fulani camp along the Idofin/Olla road, two of the victims were rescued after the kidnappers abandoned them upon sighting the security team. However, one of the victims, Ahmed Aminat, was taken away by the abductors.

Police confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with the abduction. They were identified as Abubakar Seriki Juli, Mohammadu Bello, Abubakar Sodiq (20), Abubakar Bako, and another suspect also named Mohammadu Bello. All the suspects are residents of Idofin Aiyekale.

One of the rescued victims reportedly identified two of the suspects as members of the kidnap gang.

Spokesperson for the command stated that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
