A widow, Mrs. Yewande Roberts, has accused the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, of sexual harassment, psychological abuse, and unlawfully withholding the creative works of her late husband, Pastor Tope Roberts, a former MFM youth pastor and gospel music minister.

In an exclusive account shared with SaharaReporters on Monday, Roberts, who is also the daughter of former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, Olatunde Disu, narrated how she endured years of abuse within the church and has struggled to reclaim her late husband’s recorded songs and videos, which she alleged have been in MFM’s custody since his death eight years ago.

Roberts said she joined MFM after converting from Islam, seeking spiritual guidance, but was soon drawn into what she described as a cycle of manipulation and harassment.

According to her, Dr. Olukoya allegedly subjected her to disturbing forms of “deliverance sessions” where he slapped her womb, strangled her neck, touched her forehead, eyes, and ears, and once hugged her in a way that made her feel violated. She also alleged that he asked her personal questions about her virginity during counselling sessions.

“I was worried but didn’t know who to tell because I knew people would not believe me,” Roberts said.

The widow recounted that after her husband, Tope — a gospel artist who won a church-organised music competition and was signed to MFM’s record label — passed away, the church leadership erased his works from their social media pages and withheld his recorded songs, videos, and even burial footage.

“They never gave me copies of his music or burial videos. I have nothing to show my son about his father,” she lamented.

Roberts further alleged that when she tried to preserve her husband’s legacy by uploading three of his songs on YouTube, Olukoya threatened to stop sponsoring her son’s education unless she deleted them.

Beyond Olukoya’s alleged conduct, Roberts also accused several MFM pastors and ministers of attempting to sexually harass her after her husband’s death. She narrated instances where she was propositioned by a church music minister and claimed a youth pastor attempted to molest her while she sought accommodation.

“They branded me ‘Emere’ (marine spirit) and accused me of killing my husband. It broke me. I went into depression and have been undergoing therapy,” she added.

Roberts alleged that the harassment extended to cyberbullying, with her social media accounts repeatedly hacked and deleted. She also claimed that a business proposal she submitted for financial support was later leaked online to discredit her.

She concluded by calling on Olukoya and the church to release her husband’s intellectual property, saying:

“This is eight years now, and Dr. Olukoya has refused to release my husband’s creative works. I have moved on with my life, trusting that one day God will fight for me.”

Previous Allegations Against Olukoya

This is not the first time such allegations have surfaced against the MFM leader. Earlier this year, Nigerian YouTuber and former MFM minister, Funke Ashekun, alleged that Olukoya engaged in hypnotic and inappropriate physical contact during counselling sessions. Ashekun, who worked in the church for nearly two decades, said she only realised the alleged acts were sinister after hearing similar testimonies from other women.

Ashekun also alleged that some victims of the alleged abuse within MFM had battled depression and suicidal thoughts.

Dr. Olukoya and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries are yet to respond publicly to the fresh allegations as of the time of filing this report.
