The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, has ordered disciplinary action against a staff member, Mr. Nnaji Kenneth, for alleged admission racketeering.

Kenneth, who works in the Registry Department, was accused of collecting ₦400,000 from a prospective student’s mother with a promise to secure admission into Medicine, later renegotiated for Nursing Science.

The mother reported him to the Acting VC after he stopped answering her calls. Kenneth reportedly admitted to the offence when confronted by university officials.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi stressed that admission into the university is free and warned against corruption. The case has been referred to the disciplinary committee for further action.
