The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded early victories in key polling units within the Presidential Villa during Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Chairmanship elections.
At Polling Unit 002, located at No 4 Kofo Abayomi Street, beside the Officers Mess in the Presidential Villa, the APC polled 24 votes, far ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 5 votes.
A similar trend was observed at the Presidential Villa/Police Affairs Commission polling unit, where the APC secured 32 votes, outpacing the ADC’s 11 votes. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) finished third in this unit with only 2 votes.
Political analysts say the early figures from the Villa serve as a morale booster for the ruling party, given the symbolic weight of winning at the President’s official residence. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that collation of results from the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and the remaining five area councils will continue as the election progresses.
