Wike Mocked Online as Critics Say He Has Lost Political Value

– Henry Shield describes Wike as “new APC publicity secretary” in viral post

– Netizens say the FCT Minister is desperate after losing grip on PDP
– Others defend Wike, say PDP betrayed him after all he spent

Former Rivers State Governor and now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has come under intense fire on social media following a viral post by political analyst, Hon. Henry Shield, who accused him of losing all political relevance.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Shield lampooned Wike, calling him “the new Publicity Secretary of the APC”, and alleged that the minister had lost his bargaining power in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Wike seems to be the new Publicity Secretary of the APC. Dude is not taking chances at all, seeing as he has lost the PDP and has nothing else to bargain with with Tinubu,” Shield wrote.

“My sincere sympathies, Mr. Minister of Rolls Royce and Land Grabbing.”

“Man is in deep sh!t” — Users pile on Wike

The post triggered heated reactions, with many X users accusing Wike of clout-chasing and desperately clinging to political relevance.

@thatMrT commented, “Wike will start destroying APC soon. Wait for it.”

@Isayitonce added, “Very true. His main bargaining chip was his supposed stranglehold on PDP. With its apparent implosion, he is out in the cold.”

Others made fun of Wike’s recent media appearances and flamboyant lifestyle:

“Wike is the new minister of Rolls Royce,” wrote @danielchuk5605.

@kalo_nelson added, “The coalition is about to render him politically useless.”

Not everyone is against him

Some netizens came to Wike’s defence, saying his actions were driven by betrayal from within the PDP.

@TshewM56481 said, “Wike spent a lot of money in financing PDP, but when it was time for VP ticket they played him. A man will love where he’s treated with love and kindness.”

ADC coalition may be shifting power dynamics

The online backlash comes as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gains momentum through a quiet coalition strategy. With many PDP members defecting, some political observers believe that the ADC's rise is slowly weakening Wike’s political weight, especially with his unclear loyalty.

Analysts say the new movement is redefining opposition politics ahead of 2027, leaving key figures like Wike in a politically vulnerable position.
