2027: Ohanaeze Urges Tinubu to Accept ADC’s Mission to Unseat Him

– Says ADC's rise ends Nigeria’s drift into one-party dominance

– Warns of looming betrayals from APC governors over re-election bid
– “ADC threat is a blessing in disguise,” group tells Tinubu

The Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has told President Bola Tinubu to embrace the growing influence of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has positioned itself as a major contender to unseat him in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, July 5, the group said the adoption of ADC by the emerging opposition coalition signals a critical turning point in Nigerian politics and has effectively disrupted the dangerous trend toward a one-party system.

Crisis merchants now irrelevant – Ohanaeze

According to the statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro (Deputy President-General, factional) and Chief Thompson Ohia, the coalition has rendered political saboteurs within the opposition space “irrelevant,” claiming that figures once deployed to destabilize parties like PDP, LP, and SDP have lost their relevance.

“This development has rendered the so-called crisis merchants… irrelevant as their political benefactors grow increasingly anxious about their future,” the group noted.

“Wake up from your slumber,” Ohanaeze warns Tinubu

Ohanaeze urged Tinubu to stop being complacent and see ADC’s growing popularity as a warning sign and an opportunity to recalibrate his administration’s governance strategy.

“President Tinubu must embrace the ADC’s endeavours to unseat him as an unexpected opportunity—a blessing in disguise—to recalibrate his governance strategies,” they said.

Governors may betray Tinubu – Ohanaeze reveals

The group also warned that some state governors—especially from the North—may betray Tinubu’s re-election ambition by secretly backing the ADC coalition.

“Disturbing intelligence suggests several state governors may switch allegiance to the ADC… They’re under significant pressure from Northern leaders and traditional rulers.”

According to the group, some Northern politicians are closely watching Tinubu’s handling of the APC, and will resist any attempt to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima with another Northern candidate.

Tinubu must act fast

Ohanaeze said Tinubu must face reality, confront his administration’s flaws, and urgently realign strategies to retain public trust.

“The current trajectory suggests an urgent need for adjustment. The presidency cannot ignore the writing on the wall,” they warned.

The statement adds to the growing tension in Nigeria’s political landscape as the ADC coalition continues to draw attention, with top political actors reportedly in private talks to join the alliance ahead of 2027.
