– ADC chairman hails new wave of supporters ahead of 2027 elections
– “We’ll gladly welcome Governor Dauda Lawal too,” party says
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State has confirmed the defection of over 100 new membersfrom various political parties within just the last ten days.
The development was disclosed on Friday, July 5, by the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, during a media interaction in Gusau.
Garba described the growing number of defectors as a strong signal of increasing grassroots support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“In the past ten days, we’ve recorded over 100 new members who joined from different parties,” Garba said.
ADC says it’s becoming a force in Zamfara
Garba said that more people are showing interest in the ADC as the party continues its outreach across the state.
“The ADC is fast becoming a political force in Zamfara. We’re open to all who believe in our mission,” he said.
He added that the party has intensified its membership drive and is actively engaging individuals and groups ready to switch allegiance.
“We’ll welcome Gov. Dauda Lawal if he joins” — ADC
In a bold statement, the party chairman said the ADC would be willing to accept Governor Dauda Lawal if he chooses to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“If the governor decides to join us, he will be received like any other member,” Garba said.
The comment comes amid rising speculations of political realignments in Zamfara, following internal cracks within some parties.
More defections expected in coming weeks
According to Garba, this is just the beginning, as the party expects even more high-profile defections in the coming weeks.
He noted that ADC is strengthening its structure across all local governments in preparation for the 2027 elections.
