– Challenges Tinubu to release forensic audit report, vows to resign if Amaechi isn’t indicted
– Alleges former AGF Malami buried the report to protect ex-Transport Minister
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made explosive allegations against former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and his wife, claiming that she received ₦4 billion monthly from the NDDC during Amaechi’s tenure in office.
Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television on Friday, July 5, Wike called on President Bola Tinubu to release the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which he claimed contains serious indictments against the former Rivers State governor and his wife.
“Release the audit report or I’ll resign” – Wike dares presidency
Wike, who was reacting to corruption allegations from Amaechi, said:
“Amaechi’s wife was not an industrialist. She has never been. Yet her company got ₦4 billion monthly from the NDDC to train Niger Delta women. That’s ₦48 billion in one year.”
He then threw a challenge to the presidency:
“Mr President should please release the forensic audit report. If what I said is not there, I will resign as FCT Minister. I don’t worship office.”
According to Wike, the forensic report was “killed” by former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, to shield high-profile names involved in the NDDC scandal.
“Malami buried the report to protect Amaechi”
Wike said Malami had access to the forensic report and deliberately refused to publish it because of the implications it held for Amaechi and others.
“Former AGF Malami killed that document to protect those concerned. Nigerians deserve to see it. It’s not about whether the audit is perfect. Just release it,” Wike insisted.
“That’s how she became an industrialist”
The former Rivers State governor doubled down, suggesting that the massive NDDC payouts were the sole reason Amaechi’s wife was portrayed as a business magnate.
“That’s how the wife became an industrialist – ₦4 billion every month to train women. If I’m lying, the audit will prove it,” he said.
Wike mocks Amaechi’s qualifications, Rolls-Royce claim
Taking further jabs, Wike questioned Amaechi’s academic credentials, calling them “less than average.” He also responded to Amaechi’s recent claim that a senator gave him a Rolls-Royce which he doesn’t use.
Wike countered that the luxury car was actually gifted to Amaechi by a contractor executing “almost zero percent” of state projects in Rivers during Amaechi’s tenure.
