The Media Aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has alleged that former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, owns a mansion valued at $552,000 (about ₦885 million) in the United States.
Olayinka made the claim on Friday in a post via his verified 𝕏 account.
He further alleged that Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, runs the AAC as his personal property, holding multiple roles within the party despite facing suspension from members over corruption-related issues.
“Sowore is the Chairman of AAC political party. He is Presidential Candidate of AAC. He is Financial Secretary of AAC. In fact, he is Sole Proprietor of AAC. He owns mansion worth $552,000 (about N885m) in the US. Na ‘Cashtivist’ Sowore be that. Reason his party members suspended him for corruption,” Olayinka wrote.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on the Federal Government to take a firm stance against Sowore over his recent criticisms of President Bola Tinubu and Minister Wike.
In a statement on Wednesday, APC State Chairman Tony Okocha urged Nigerians to disregard Sowore’s remarks, describing him as a “serial merchant of discord and purveyor of half-truths.”
Okocha added that attempts to spread falsehoods against political leaders were defamatory and a threat to Nigeria’s democratic stability.
