1. Atiku Abubakar Officially Dumps PDP

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to reports gathered by Naija Blog, Atiku informed the PDP Chairman of his Jada 1 Ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State, about his decision via an official letter.

Recall that Atiku, alongside Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi, recently formed a coalition of opposition parties, adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the political vehicle to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.


2. EFCC Heads To Appeal Court Over Fayose’s Acquittal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rejected the ruling of the Federal High Court in Lagos which discharged and acquitted Ayo Fayose, ex-Governor of Ekiti State, of fraud charges.

The EFCC revealed via its official X handle that its legal team is preparing an appeal after the court ruled that the prosecution’s evidence was insufficient to continue the ₦6.9 billion fraud case.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, marking a significant legal win for the former governor.


3. Obidient Movement Debunks Rift Between Peter Obi & Nenadi Usman

The Obidient Movement Worldwide has dismissed claims of a fallout between Peter Obi and the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman.

Yunusa Tanko, the movement’s national coordinator, described such rumours as baseless and a ploy by political propagandists to cause division within the Labour Party.

Tanko emphasized that Obi’s presence at the Labour Party’s recent Anambra campaign was in solidarity and commitment to the Nenadi Usman-led leadership.


4. 151 Senior Police Officers Face Disciplinary Panel In Abuja

Over 150 senior police officers, ranging from Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) upwards, are currently being investigated by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The internal review sessions, which started on July 14 and will run until July 25, aim to scrutinize allegations of misconduct, abuse of power, and other unethical behaviours within the police force.

The outcomes of these hearings will be submitted to the Police Service Commission for final decisions.


5. APC Has Become A Monarchy – Salihu Lukman

Former APC National Vice Chairman (Northwest), Salihu Lukman, has lashed out at the ruling party, accusing it of abandoning its democratic roots to become a monarch-style organization.

Speaking on Arise News, Lukman criticised the APC for degenerating into a hollow shell, with critical party organs now inactive. He attributed part of this decay to the leadership style of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lukman is also pushing for the formation of a new political coalition to restore Nigeria’s democratic values.


6. Atiku’s PDP Exit Irrelevant – Governor Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has downplayed Atiku’s exit from the PDP, insisting it will not affect the party’s strength.

Speaking in Akure during the 10th anniversary of the Deji of Akure, the governor said, “PDP is an institution; anyone can come in or leave. It’s better those who want to hold us back exit.”

Makinde also dismissed concerns over the threat posed by ADC to the PDP’s dominance.


7. Lawyer Accuses Mohbad’s Family Of Targeting Wunmi

Prominent Nigerian lawyer, Festus Ogun, has accused the family of late singer Mohbad of deliberately targeting the singer’s wife, Wunmi, amidst ongoing controversies surrounding his death.

Ogun, who was involved in the Coroner’s Inquest, condemned the persistent allegations against Wunmi, labeling them as part of a calculated attempt to scapegoat her.
