Former vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 elections and Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for restoring stability and optimism in Nigeria, while declaring support for his re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday at a national summit organized by the Integrity Group of Nigeria (IGN), themed “Renew Hope Agenda through Continuity,” Okowa—represented by his former Special Adviser on National Assembly and Intergovernmental Relations, Pascal Adigwe—praised Tinubu’s proactive leadership style, contrasting it with past administrations.
“Tinubu’s decisions might be tough or rough, but they are yielding positive results. Tinubu is bringing stability. He’s bringing back hope. He’s taking the bull by the horns. He’s not referring to issues in the past or how the past was governed. He promised Nigeria that he will come to the saddle and take responsibility. That is what he has done,” Okowa said.
The former governor stressed that Tinubu’s leadership has demonstrated accountability and commitment to national progress. He called on support groups to begin laying the groundwork for the president’s re-election campaign.
“We have come, not with liability but assets, to make what you have built better. We are coming with our experience, with our knowledge of the terrain. We are coming with love. We are coming with resources to better the lot,” he added.
Convener of the summit and National Chairman of IGN, Dr. Oke Idawene, also praised Tinubu’s preparedness for leadership, stressing that “never again should we allow those who plunder Nigeria’s wealth to lead us.”
Other speakers at the summit, including Senator Binta Garba, former Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen, and FUTA Pro-Chancellor Professor Nora Daduut, echoed support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, citing achievements in student loans, security, and sports development, while emphasizing the need for continuity beyond 2027.
