Ondo State, Nigeria — The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that Oladele Femi, popularly known as "Tallex", the landlord accused of masterminding the abduction and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), died on Saturday in hospital after developing a mysterious illness while in police custody.
DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the Command’s spokesperson, said:
“Yes, he is dead. He had been under medical supervision since his arrest and had been in and out of the hospital. He passed away yesterday.”
Femi was taken into custody after police linked him to the disappearance of John Abba and Eloho Okah, both reported missing on June 20, 2025. Femi, who rented to Abba, had allegedly confessed to organizing their abduction and killing. While Eloho’s decomposing body has been recovered, John Abba’s remains are still missing.
In connection with the case, two other suspects, identified as Kola and Michael, have been arrested for allegedly withdrawing ₦800,000 from Abba’s bank account while he and Eloho were held. Police say the money was diverted during the students’ captivity. Authorities have also recovered a Lexus RX 350 SUV, registered to Abba, from one of the suspects.
Investigations into the landlord’s death are ongoing, while efforts continue to locate Abba’s body. The police have not commented on the specifics of Femi’s illness, but confirmed that his condition warranted repeated hospital visits.
