A Nigerian woman has sparked a social media debate and called for a nationwide protest against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), alleging that this year's exams were poorly coordinated and conducted late into the night.

In a video shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the woman expressed her frustration after her child reportedly failed English. She urged mothers across the country to "come out" and demand accountability from WAEC, claiming that a significant number of students failed core subjects like English and Mathematics.

"Mothers, come out o. It’s like WAEC wants its end," she said in the video. "Those that passed aren’t many—most of them failed Maths and English. Is it supposed to be like that? When the kids started their exam by noon and ended it around 11 midnight, is that how it’s done?"

She continued, "The WAEC exam of this year is not it. Mothers, come out. Let’s shout at them so they can do something. Where is exam done by midnight? The WAEC exams they did—none of them is good. It’s bad.”

The video has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians online. While some users echoed concerns about exam logistics, others questioned the woman's claims and suggested that students might not have prepared adequately.

The controversy comes as WAEC has previously faced criticism over alleged logistical issues during its examination period. The examination body has yet to officially respond to the woman's allegations.
