Fresh details have emerged on the events that led to the resignation of former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, with insiders claiming his political troubles began shortly after he took office.

A reliable party insider told Daily Trust that Ganduje was “point-blank” instructed by influential figures within the party to reconcile with his former boss and political ally, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“It was a tough moment for him when they said he should go and reconcile with Kwankwaso and thought that the pressure will fizzle out with time. But the call on him to act quickly persisted from the powers that be. Unfortunately, Ganduje was a bit reluctant in his approach to the matter, which also sounded somehow to the Kwankwaso camp,” the source said.

The Remarks That Sparked Reactions
One incident highlighted by the source took place at the APC national headquarters in Abuja when Ganduje hosted the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata.

Ganduje was quoted as saying:

“The APC is deepening and widening democracy in the country. Kwankwaso is a fish out of water, trying to find its way back into the waters… We can still have him in, if he wants to join us… it is morally right to accommodate him.”

While the comments appeared to signal openness, the source said they “did not sound fully reconciliatory” to Kwankwaso’s loyalists.

Tinubu’s Push for Reconciliation
Another APC insider noted that although Ganduje’s tenure saw the party attract more members, including governors, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to bring Kwankwaso into the party never wavered.

Ganduje’s perceived hesitation in acting swiftly on this reconciliation agenda, sources say, may have intensified internal pressure — ultimately leading to his resignation.
