Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has strongly criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over remarks suggesting that he was “lucky” to have President Bola Tinubu as a tolerant leader despite his criticisms.
Wike had, on Thursday, during the flag-off of the Arterial Road N1 construction in Wuye, Abuja, rebuked Sowore for describing President Tinubu as a “criminal.” The minister argued that Sowore should consider himself fortunate to have a president who respects the rule of law.
Responding via his verified X handle, Sowore accused Wike of corruption, land grabbing, and violence during his time in public office.
“I heard that the FCT’s drunkard–murderer–landgrabber–thief minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, said Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have assassinated me for calling him #TinubuIsACriminal,” Sowore wrote.
He further alleged that Wike lacked the moral standing to criticise anyone, describing him as a “dedicated criminal.”
“Wike is a dedicated criminal. His day will come. His threatening me with assassination on behalf of Tinubu is nothing new. If Nigerians weren’t so docile, complacent, and cowardly, criminals, thieves, and murderers like Wike would never have any leadership roles in this country,” he added.
Sowore also accused the FCT minister of atrocities in Abuja and Rivers State, including the alleged massacre of Igbos at Obigbo, while insisting that Wike should face trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
