The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its scheduled state congresses in Plateau and Cross River.
Naija News reports that the congresses, earlier fixed for Saturday, September 27, 2025, were meant to elect new State Executive Committees for the party.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said fresh dates will be announced in due course.
According to him:
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the postponement of State Congress for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee of our Party in Plateau and Cross River States.
Consequently, the State Congress in the two States earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 27th 2025 has been postponed to a new date which will be communicated in due course.
The NWC urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members of the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies and the general public to note the postponement and be guided accordingly.”
Meanwhile, the PDP in Rivers State has dismissed speculations that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is planning to dump the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Rivers PDP chairman, Robinson Ewor, insisted that while the governor has the right to take political decisions, there is no basis for such rumours, stressing that the party remains strong in the state.
