The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has released a press statement dismissing recent reports linking the group to insecurity across Nigeria.

In the statement signed by IPOB’s spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group described the reports as “satanic lies” allegedly circulated by security agencies and amplified by sections of the media. IPOB insisted that it is a peaceful and lawful self-determination movement and not involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, or any form of terrorism.

“The so-called ‘commander’ paraded by the Nigerian Army, one ‘Gentle,’ has already denied being a member of IPOB. Yet the media continues to associate our name with every manufactured criminal case,” the statement read.

IPOB further criticized what it called “ethnic prejudice and double standards” in media coverage of issues affecting the Igbo people, warning that defamatory publications against the group would now be challenged in court.

Reaffirming its position, IPOB said: “Our demand for Biafra is rooted in justice, equity, and freedom. No amount of propaganda will change that. IPOB remains unshaken.”
