The Obidient Movement has refuted reports suggesting that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is undecided about the political platform he will use for the 2027 general election.
Speculations had circulated that Obi was weighing options between remaining in the Labour Party (LP), aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition that recently adopted him, or returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has zoned its presidential ticket to the South.
Reacting to the rumours, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, told journalists on Thursday that Obi’s position was clear.
“That is completely false. It has been firmly established that Mr. Peter Obi remains a member of the Labour Party,”Tanko said.
He stressed that Obi is not in political limbo and remains focused on his mission to rescue Nigerians from hardship.
“Mr. Peter Obi is not confused at all. In fact, he is very focused on the goals and objectives he is aiming towards. I have never seen a man who is as focused on what he believes he can do for the country if elected president. He has his eyes on the ball and will not allow himself to be distracted,” he added.
Tanko further noted that Obi’s support base continues to expand because Nigerians see him as a symbol of genuine change.
“The country has reached a level of decay where the ruling class shows little concern for those they govern. Nigerians are yearning for true change and they see Peter Obi providing the leadership they desire,” he said.
