Naija Blog reports that the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reportedly terminated the employment of all its Nigerian staff, barely 24 hours after 90 per cent of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
According to an internal memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, the refinery said the decision was part of a “total re-organisation” exercise.
The notice further alleged that the drastic step became necessary after “reported cases of sabotage” were uncovered in different units of the plant.
Affected workers were directed to surrender all company property in their possession to their line managers and secure exit clearance. The finance department was also ordered to compute outstanding benefits and entitlements for immediate settlement.
“Management appreciates your services while in our employment and wishes you success in your future endeavours,” the memo read in part.
This development comes amid a lingering trade dispute between the refinery and PENGASSAN over the unionisation of staff. The mass sack is now seen as a direct fallout of that standoff.
Labour leaders have yet to issue an official response as at press time.
