The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has condemned the practice of vote buying, describing those who engage in it as “looters” rather than leaders.

Obi stressed that politicians who bribe voters during elections do so with the sole intention of gaining access to public funds, which they later divert into personal pockets at the expense of national development.

“Vote-buying is one of the greatest dangers confronting our democracy. It is never an act of kindness; it is a calculated investment in corruption,” Obi said.

He explained that when such politicians get into office, resources meant for schools, hospitals, roads, and jobs are stolen, thereby depriving citizens of essential services and progress.

“Such people are not leaders—they are looters. Their actions rob our society of dignity, development, and even life itself,” Obi added.
