The Senate has stopped Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from resuming plenary, insisting her six-month suspension is still in place until the Court of Appeal rules on her case.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, wrote to the Senate saying she planned to return on September 4, 2025, which she believed marked the end of her suspension.

But in a letter signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate said the matter is still before the court and cannot be resolved until judgment is delivered.

The senator was suspended on March 6, 2025, for allegedly breaching Senate standing orders. The Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the suspension, leading her to file an appeal.

The Senate said her suspension would only be reviewed after the Court of Appeal gives its verdict.
