The leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has declared that the party is fully prepared to provide Nigerians with a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Monday, Adebayo said the SDP stands out from both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting the party is built on honesty, accountability, and patriotism.

“It is rare to find a true SDP member who has interest in the APC or PDP because what they represent is totally opposite to what the SDP stands for,” he said.

Adebayo admitted that internal sabotage affected the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, citing instances where state chairmen allegedly worked against the SDP. However, he assured that reforms were underway to strengthen internal discipline and transparency.

He revealed that the party is restructuring to ensure only committed members remain in leadership positions, stressing that the SDP is built on integrity and service, not personal ambition.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s political history, Adebayo argued that the SDP’s mission is to correct long-standing divisions inherited from the colonial era by promoting unity, merit, and justice.

He added that Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned with the APC and PDP, positioning the SDP as a movement of hope for citizens tired of recycled promises.

“The people are tired of rhetoric. Nigerians want results. The SDP offers that hope because our members are not career politicians but citizens driven by conviction,” he said.

Adebayo assured that the SDP would field credible candidates across all levels in 2027, backed by a clear development vision rooted in transparency and inclusiveness.
