Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has declared that the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have no real political influence in the state, boasting that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), defeated Peter Obi’s camp at the polls.
Speaking at a victory rally in Nanka to celebrate APGA’s success, Soludo said the elections had been framed by opposition leaders, including LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a test of popularity, but the outcome proved otherwise.
He criticized Obi for backing ADC candidates, stressing that the party has little or no real presence in Anambra politics.
Soludo further mocked the former governor by pointing out that APGA even secured victory in Onitsha North, which he described as Obi’s own constituency.
“The opposition leaders came together, from senators to House of Reps members, but they all failed because the people of Anambra have spoken,” Soludo said.
He described the election as an attempted test run for ADC in the state but maintained that APGA’s overwhelming victory, with about 77 percent of the votes, was a clear statement of the party’s dominance and the weakness of its rivals.
