Ace Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of “upgrading from deceiving people through lies to bewitching people through enchantment.”
Okonkwo made the remarks on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, criticizing President Bola Tinubu over the declaration of a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State.
The actor claimed that Tinubu caused the crisis in Rivers State and selectively applied emergency powers while ignoring severe insecurity in other states such as Benue and Niger.
“Over 200 people were killed in Benue State, Boko Haram has been targeting our officers and citizens, and more than 500 people died of natural disasters in Niger State, yet the president did not take extraordinary measures,” Okonkwo said.
He added, “In Rivers State, where there was no crisis, no political riot, the declaration of a state of emergency is most annoying. The president is using the Supreme Court judgment to even talk about state of emergency. That is bewitchment.”
Okonkwo further criticized the APC government, asserting that the party has moved from deception to manipulation, accusing Tinubu of initiating a crisis where none existed.
