Popular social activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday led a massive protest in Auchi, Edo State, blocking Dangote trucks from using the roads until the company compensates victims of its accidents.
The demonstration, which involved students of Auchi Polytechnic, was staged to demand justice for Ruth Otabor, sister of BBNaija winner Phyna, whose leg was amputated after she was crushed by a Dangote truck just days after her graduation.
In videos circulating online, VDM was seen addressing the large crowd of protesters, declaring that Dangote must take responsibility.
“The people of Auchi have no choice but to stop all Dangote drivers from using our roads until the company compensates victims, regulates its drivers, and takes full responsibility,” he stated.
The protest came barely 24 hours after another tragic incident in Auchi, where three people lost their lives near Omega Fire Ministry when a Dangote truck collided with another vehicle and rammed into a Mercedes Benz GLK.
Reacting to the incident, Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, condemned the crash, describing it as “an avoidable loss of lives caused by reckless driving.”
Visibly angered, VDM vowed that Dangote trucks would not be allowed to ply Auchi roads until justice is served and adequate compensation is given to all victims.
