The United States Embassy has issued a new advisory to Nigerians and other visa applicants, stressing the importance of transparency in the visa application process.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the embassy reminded applicants that they are now required to provide all social media handles used in the last five years when filling out the DS-160 visa application form.
The embassy noted that applicants must also certify the accuracy of every detail provided.
“Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit,” the embassy stated.
Failure to comply with this requirement, the embassy warned, could result in visa denial and even future ineligibility.
This development comes as the US has also introduced stricter immigration-related policies, including a new immigrant fee of $15,000 and warnings to foreign students, who risk visa revocation if they fail to comply with updated regulations.
