A Nigerian man based in Canada, Kwunkeyi Isichei, has captured the admiration of many after sharing his inspiring journey from doing menial jobs to securing a prominent role in government communications.

In a widely circulated TikTok video, Isichei recounted his early struggles upon arriving in Canada in 2021. His first job was at McDonald’s, flipping burgers to make ends meet. Seeking better opportunities, he took on DJ gigs at Nigerian events, though he admitted finding the work stressful and unrewarding.

Determined to find his footing, Isichei worked various jobs — including as a warehouse agent, a physically demanding and lonely experience, and briefly as a truck conductor, which he enjoyed for the exposure but left after a series of difficult confrontations.

His career took a new direction when he secured a role in aviation, starting as a ramp agent before becoming a plane marshaller at Montreal airport — responsible for guiding large planes to safe parking.

“I used to land and park big planes at the Montreal airport,” he proudly recalled.

A significant breakthrough came when Isichei transitioned into media, landing a role as a television reporter, fulfilling a long-held aspiration.

His perseverance paid off when the Federal Government of Canada reached out to him. He was appointed as the lead photographer for one of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s ministers and later advanced to his current role as the Digital Communications Advisor to the Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development.

In a LinkedIn post, Isichei described his job as being the “creative force behind the Minister’s online presence.”

His story has inspired many, showcasing the power of resilience, adaptability, and continuous growth in the face of challenges.
