A young lady has stirred controversy online after revealing that she was asked to leave a church service because of her outfit.

The incident was shared on TikTok by the user @loveleeogah, who posted a video showing the dress she wore on that day. The outfit, an off-the-shoulder dress, was reportedly considered "inappropriate" by church officials, leading to her eviction from the premises.

In her post, the lady questioned the church’s action, writing:

“POV: I was sent back home because of what I wore to church. My opponent, what is wrong with my dress?”

Her story quickly went viral, sparking divided opinions among social media users.

Some commenters backed the church’s decision, insisting that she should have respected its dress code.

  • @Chosen wrote: “You know the church rules, if you can’t abide by them please look for one that can accommodate you.”

Others, however, criticised the church, calling the action extreme.

  • @Nme Soma said: “Anything you can wear outside and feel comfortable, wear it to church ’cause it’s your father’s house.”

  • @Ramat, a Muslim, commented: “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your outfit compared to what Christians wear to church in my place. It’s quite decent.”

Some users also shared their personal experiences of being embarrassed in church over clothing, while others argued that different churches have different standards.

The video has since attracted thousands of views and comments, highlighting the ongoing debate about modesty, personal freedom, and church dress codes in Nigeria.

While some churches maintain strict rules about attire, others adopt a more relaxed approach, allowing worshippers to dress as they wish.
