Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, was involved in a minor road accident on Sunday evening, July 21, 2025, along the Daura–Katsina Road, but fortunately escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred shortly after the governor departed Daura, where he had gone to pay a condolence visit to the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the government confirmed the accident but assured the public that Governor Radda is safe and in stable condition.
"The Governor sustained no serious injuries and is currently undergoing a routine medical evaluation in Daura. He remains in good health and is being attended to by medical professionals," the statement read.
The press release also conveyed the governor’s appreciation to residents and supporters across Katsina for their prayers and concern following the incident. It further noted the governor’s gratitude to God for divine protection.
While the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, the Daura–Katsina Road has been experiencing increased traffic and high-profile movements in recent days, especially in the wake of Buhari’s passing, drawing prominent politicians and dignitaries to the late former president’s hometown.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether other vehicles were involved in the crash or provided specific details about the circumstances leading to the accident. Further updates are expected.
