The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that Abuja will be transformed into a world-class city before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term in office.
Wike gave the assurance on Wednesday during the flag-off of the construction of Access Arterial Road S1, linking Ring Road 2 to the FCT Fire Service Station in Kaura District, which also includes a three-span bridge.
The Minister said the ongoing expansion of road networks and provision of basic amenities would put Abuja on par with other major cities globally.
“It is the hope of the Renewed Hope Agenda that before the first tenure of Mr. President ends, Abuja will be a different place. Abuja will compete with other cities of the world,” Wike declared.
He also commended security agencies and area council chairmen for their contributions towards ensuring the safety of residents in the FCT.
According to him, Kwali, Kuje, AMAC, Bwari, and Gwagwalada area councils are already reaping the benefits of ongoing projects, while Abaji would soon experience similar development.
“The only people that have not benefited so much as they have benefited is Abaji, but they are going to be better. He who thinks last, thinks the best,” he added.
