London, UK — Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has died at The London Clinic, one of the United Kingdom’s most exclusive private hospitals, renowned for catering to the global elite.

Buhari, who reportedly travelled to London in April 2025 for a routine medical check-up, was later admitted to the clinic’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after his condition deteriorated. He passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, around 4:30 p.m., after developing sudden breathing complications.

His nephew, Mamman Daura, disclosed that the former leader had been in good spirits and was even preparing for discharge the night before his death. However, by midday on Sunday, his health took a sharp turn, and despite doctors' efforts to stabilize him, he could not recover.

The news of Buhari’s death was officially confirmed by his former spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, in a brief statement. The exact cause of death was not made public, though Buhari had been battling health issues for several years during and after his presidency.
