The Federal Government has unveiled a digital platform that enables Nigerians to report fraudulent activities in housing estates, upload evidence, and monitor the progress of their complaints.

The initiative, announced on Tuesday in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, is aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.

The Housing Fraud Reporting Portal, accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng, allows citizens to submit complaints, share supporting documents, and track cases in real time. The Ministry stated that all reports will be reviewed in collaboration with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary, adding that offenders will face the full weight of the law.

The unveiling featured live demonstrations by the platform’s developers, Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited.

In addition to the fraud reporting system, the Ministry also launched the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System. The platform provides real-time oversight of housing projects, evaluates contractor performance against set indicators, and serves as a central repository for project documents, payment certificates, and Bills of Quantities.

Speaking on the launch, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, said the initiative aligns with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which emphasizes stronger regulation of the housing industry, certification of estate developers, and protection of citizens against fraudulent actors.

Dangiwa stressed that the policy also called for a robust legal and regulatory framework to ensure accountability and professionalism in the housing sector.

Deputy Director and Head of the Ministry’s ICT Department, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, noted that the platforms reflect the Ministry’s commitment to improving service delivery. He added that the fraud portal was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure effective tracking and follow-up of reported cases.
