Nigerian investigative journalist David Hundeyin has stirred controversy online after alleging that Habibat Oyindamola, daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acquired a luxurious property valued at $2.4 million in Manhattan, New York.

According to Hundeyin, the property is situated at 255 Hudson Street, Manhattan, and was purchased outright in cash. He further claimed that Oyindamola, who was 22 years old and unemployed at the time, used a Limited Liability Company (LLC) to mask her identity during the 2014 acquisition.

Hundeyin’s Allegation

“She created an LLC to hide her name. She was unemployed, just 22 years old, yet paid cash for a $2.4 million property,” Hundeyin stated.

He presented documents purportedly tracing the ownership of the property, suggesting that it raises serious concerns about wealth acquisition within the Tinubu family.

Mixed Reactions from Nigerians

The revelation has sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, reflecting Nigeria’s polarised political atmosphere:

  • Omotayo Omowunmi:
“Her father has been a multi-millionaire, if not a billionaire, before he became president.”

  • Victor Eyo:
“The dad has been wealthy for a long time. He has many companies; maybe she’s managing one of them.”

  • Charles Eze:
“It’s nobody’s business. We’re just waiting for her father to finish his 4 years and go. If she likes, she can buy all of the USA, it doesn’t concern us.”

  • Esther Sunshine:
“She’s buying it with our money that her father is packing.”
