Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage, has debunked speculations that she deliberately released her sex tape in 2021 to gain relevance.

Naija News reports that the singer was blackmailed before the video surfaced online, sparking widespread criticism.

Speaking in a recent interview with American radio station Hot 97, Tiwa Savage said she was unfairly bashed by the public, who accused her of seeking sympathy.

She said:

“I was bashed for my sex video. A lot of people thought I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were horrible and blamed me.

They said I did it to be relevant. If I was really doing that, I would’ve been intentional — with better lighting, lingerie, and even my facial expressions on point.”

The singer further revealed that she once dated a well-known personality who forced her to keep their relationship secret.

According to her, the man insisted they act like strangers in public, a situation that later became unbearable for her.
