Nigerian Afrobeats queen, Tiwa Savage, has revealed that she has been celibate for the past three years following the end of her last relationship.
Naija Blog reports that the award-winning singer made this known during an interview with The Breakfast Club.
According to her, intimacy is not something she chases unless she is in love. She admitted that she has gone without sex for three years and doesn’t even own any sex toys.
In her words:
“I have gone three years without sex. It is not something I really like or crazy about. I have to be in love to have the urge for sex. I have to be with someone for me to even think about it. I don’t even have sex toys. Maybe I need to. Maybe, people need to get me toys for my Christmas presents.”
Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage also opened up about her fallout with fellow Afrobeats star, Davido.
She explained that the clash began after she posted an Instagram story featuring Sophia Momodu, Davido’s first baby mama. Savage said her bond with Sophia grew naturally since their kids have been close friends from childhood, but Davido misinterpreted it as her taking sides.
Tiwa said she later received unfriendly messages which made her feel unsafe, leading her to file a police petition. She stressed, however, that the step was purely precautionary and not an act of hostility.
She explained:
“He felt I was taking sides, which wasn’t true. She’s simply the mother of my son’s friend. Our kids have been friends since they were one, and they’re 10 now. I’ve known David for years, but I also built a bond with Sophia. I didn’t know there were issues between them.
I reached out to his family first, hoping to resolve it privately. When I got no response and the threats continued, I acted to ensure safety. It wasn’t about revenge. I haven’t spoken to him since, but I have love for him. Our kids come first, and that’s what matters.”
The “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker added that despite the fallout, she holds no grudges against Davido and still cares about him, stressing that the well-being of their children remains her top priority.
