A disturbing video showing security personnel of the University of the Niger, Iyienu, Ogidi, Anambra State, forcefully evicting a female student from campus has sparked widespread condemnation on social media.

The incident, which occurred on July 18, 2025, was captured in a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as Chuks. In the footage, multiple security officers are seen aggressively dragging the visibly distressed student from the school hostel. She was pushed, flogged, and thrown to the ground while resisting the violent treatment.

According to reports circulating online, the student had earlier reported being a victim of blackmail by a male student in possession of her private photographs. Despite allegedly extorting her financially and emotionally, the male student reportedly leaked the content to others on campus, leading to its widespread circulation.

In an online post, Chuks claimed the student, identified as Alaka, was suspended by the university for one year after the incident was reported, while no known disciplinary action was taken against the male student responsible for the leak.

“Instead of compassion, she was met with cruelty. Three security officers dragged her out like a criminal, beating her, throwing her to the ground, and forcing her to leave immediately. No mercy. No humanity,” the post read.

Attempts by journalists to contact the university management for an official response were unsuccessful as calls to phone numbers listed on the institution’s website were not answered. The university had yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident at the time of reporting.

Human rights advocates and social media users have condemned the university’s handling of the matter, describing it as a violation of the student’s rights and dignity. They have called on the institution’s authorities and relevant agencies to investigate the incident, ensure accountability, and provide justice for the student.
