Strings of Success: Inside Jaylen Brown’s Unconventional 18th{Century} Favorite Purchase

Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown—who set records three years ago by signing the richest contract in NBA history—recently revealed that his most prized possession isn't a luxury car or a piece of jewelry, but a golden harp housed in his Boston residence.
Speaking in a recent interview with rapper Lil Baby, Brown called the instrument his "favorite purchase." The 18th-century antique, which was later "reimagined," stands as one of the most valuable items in his home. In a feature with Architectural Digest, Brown gave fans a tour of his space while soft harp melodies played in the background.
Brown expressed gratitude for his personal harpist, Li Shan Tan—principal harpist for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra—calling her an "amazing therapist." He shared that he often enjoys the soothing music late at night alongside his chef and occasionally tries his own hand at plucking out tunes when Tan isn't around.
The piece offers a glimpse into Brown’s decade-long connection with Boston. Selected third overall by the Celtics in the 2016 draft, Brown spent 10 seasons in the city, culminating in an NBA championship in 2024, before being traded to Philadelphia this past offseason in exchange for Paul George and a package of draft picks. Reflecting on his time in Boston—where he matured from a 19-year-old rookie into a 29-year-old champion—Brown noted that his custom-designed apartment felt more like home than anywhere else he had lived.
Brown is set to face his former team for the first time on November 10 in Philadelphia.
